Slow Safari?

Apple recently introduced Safari 3.2 via Mac OS X’s Software Update feature, somewhat surreptitiously adding a new anti-phishing feature in the process. The feature uses the same “Safe Browsing” Google technology as Firefox. Fortunately if—as I did—you find that it slows Safari down, then you can turn it off by visiting the Security tab of Safari’s preference pane and unchecking Warn when visiting a fraudulent website:

MacWorld have the full skinny on how the feature works. Be safe out there!

Safari is also slowed down by RSS.

Having numerous RSS links being updated in the background slows down Safari tremendously.

I eliminated any RSS links and turned off RSS.

I now use NetNewsWire as the RSS reader instead.

Long time user of NewNewsWire here. There's no excuse now that it's free!

Be safe out there!
